I have been involved in research and lobbying at both the HFMA and B&ES associations which has included writing and carrying out membership surveys and report writing for the Department of Health and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). I have also written and collated consultation responses and calls for evidence. Utilising and developing webinars and the online community has also given an added authority to the evidence given by B&ES for consideration, and I have been able to use my close industry contacts to give feedback to the Government and raise the concerns of members.

With a background in politics, I specialised in the European Community, institutions and politics and lobbying techniques at University and have been able to use these skills in the work place both through research and development and also more directly with membership surveys and social media, to help highlight opinions and illustrate potential issues for the sector.

Recently I heavily supported the work of the Sustainability team in their support of the industry when they took centre stage by producing the first ever 'living document', the 'Guide to Good Practice: Heat Metering for the RHI'. This was launched alongside the rebranding of the association. The guide gave members and the industry the first glipse at how heat metering can and should work. This was received well by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Association continues to help and advice on best practise.

I have also been significantly involved in the creation of a new online 'Renewables' group called the 'Emerging Technologies Forum'. This has tapped into a range of talented and specialist individuals who regularly join in online discussions about policy and the industry through a range of webinars.
