I have held a number of online roles acting as webmaster and online content producer, from news sites to producing commercial copy writing to keep content timely. I have managed a range of Content Management Systems from juggling nine very different scientific titles at IOP Publishing, to ensuring at LexisNexis that copy was approved for publication and free from potentially libelous content before making the information live. Having graduated from the first course in the country to specialise in online news including legal and ethical training, I have been able to use my training to good affect.
WEBSITE REDESIGN
I have been involved in a range of website redesigns to improve functionality and reduce overall costs. I was extensively involved in the XML conversion of LexisNexis Butterworths publications and the migration of the online news service, which involved a great deal of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and liasing with a range of departments to ensure tight deadlines were met prior to wholesale migration.
At HFMA I redesigned the website and put in place new mechanisms for archiving press releases on the news pages and at IOP I assisted with the early discussions of XML conversion of all the websites at the publishing house to help streamline the company's workflow.
Whilst at Faversham House I was involved in making the user experience more productive on the ACR News and HVR websites both of which underwent a significant re-design during my tenure which allowed me to use my training and knowledge to fully redevelop the options available together with the New Media department at the publishing house. In this role I was also able to thoroughly utilise the social media opportunities that were just becoming available to the business to business sector.
At B&ES I was integral to the relaunch of a new-look and re-branded website in early 2012. This involved troubleshooting and UAT in order to ensure a smooth transition when the organisation's name changed overnight from the HVCA to B&ES. This seemlessly coincided with the large scale rebranding project that ran alongside the relaunch of the website and complimented the repositioning of the Association in the media.
